Interview: Behind Our Reflections

DutchMetalManiac’s Tim van Velthuysen recently interviewed Behind Our Reflections’ guitarist/vocalist Fredo Moutoumodely.

Hey, how are you?

Fine, thank you!

Can you tell us something about the history of Behind Our Reflections?

It all started when I was in Paris with my friend Aimane from Chaos band, working on some tracks. Since I wanted to share what we have worked on, I thought why not form a band. After a week of churning upon what could represent us well, I finally chose the name: Behind Our Reflections.

For people not knowing Behind Our Reflections (yet), how would you describe your music yourself?

Just powerful and melodic.

When someone doesn’t know Behind Our Reflections yet and you can choose one of your songs to present yourself, which song would that be?

Personally, I choose Broken Heart. Because you have everything in that song! A powerful part, a breakdown, a melodic moment and this melancholic atmopshere!

What makes Behind Our Reflections unique?

When you listen to our songs, you don’t find the same thing. In the band we listen a lot to different things. And you can feel that in our songs.

Any future plans you can already tell us something about?

We are working on a tour project. But it’s very difficult now with the actual situation in France due to the corona-virus. But we don’t give up.

Any upcoming gigs for Behind Our Reflections? Maybe coming to The Netherlands?

Yeah, at this moment we have a show on Reunion Island planned. If The Netherlands is ready to receive us, we come for you!

How do you think your life would be without music?

Oh my god!!! Just empty!

What advice would you give to young and starting bands?

Practice all the day, all the night! It’s very difficult to find the good sound, to find how to making a song sound good. Manage problems in the band. It’s a lot of work, but never give up!

Thanks for your answers! Is there anything you want to say to DutchMetalManiac’s readers?

Thank you so much for this interview! Hope you like our music! Maybe one day we will have the chance to come and play in your country. In the meantime, find us on Spotify and Youtube.
