Interview: Dizorder

Recently, DutchMetalManiac’s Tim van Velthuysen interviewed Dizorder.

Hey, how are you?

Hello DutchMetalManiac!! We are doing really well! Wassup guys?

Can you tell us something about the history of Dizorder?

Dizorder, started in October 2018 with Kevin, Max, Chloé and Baptiste, first of all aims to offer metal with dense atmosphere, shaken up with our French touch.

After first EP Moon Phases, we did a European tour in 2019, we have welcomed our new bassist Alex in 2020 and unveiled the LP album Sky//Light in December 2020. Dizorder is: Kevin (guitar), Chloé (vocals), Max (drums), Baptiste (guitar) and Alex (bass).

For people not knowing Dizorder (yet), how would you describe your music yourself?

We are a French modern metal band! We can call it modern metal because of the multiple influences and the atmosphere that emerges.

We provide alternative metal at the crossroads between Flyleaf, Deftones, Northlane and free ourselves from more lyrical spheres.

Driven by the brutal screams of our singer Chloé, we try to leave the traditional comfort zones by giving a touch of trip-hop, deep-house and dark electronic music.

When someone doesn’t know Dizorder yet and you can choose one of your songs to present yourself, which song would that be?

We think the song Sky//Light from our new album represents our band the most because of the composition, the guitar riff, the powerful lyrics and the breakdowns.

What makes Dizorder unique?

We think it’s what emerged from our music. We mean, music helps people to understand themself, helps temps in difficult times.

Music is also a political purpose even if it is not its original aim. So in that sense messages that bands are trying to give make the difference.

Any future plans you can already tell us something about?

For sure! We are working on an acoustic version of Night//Owl.

Any upcoming gigs for Dizorder? Maybe coming to The Netherlands?

We are in discussion with booking manager and we hope exporting ourselves as soon as possible despite Covid-19. We are extremely hopeful about the quality of our last album and ready to gig around Europe!

How do you think your life would be without music?

It’s not possible to even imagine that!

What advice would you give to young and starting bands?

Would advise my fellow colleagues to not give up at the beginning, when it is natural to face difficulties. We must not only talk about it; we must give ourselves the means to implement it.

We think it is important to set realistic goals and deadlines. There are, of course, some people who find satisfaction in making the worst of a bad job but starting bands need to focus on the purpose of enjoying music for its own sake.

Thanks for your answers! Is there anything you want to say to DutchMetalManiac’s readers?

Thank you for the opportunity we have had today to present our album Sky//Light! You can stream and support us here.
