Interview: Sonic Circus

Recently, DutchMetalManiac’s Tim van Velthuysen interviewed Sonic Circus’ Jimmy.

Hey, how are you?

I’m excellent and excited!

Can you tell us something about the history of Sonic Circus?

Sonic Circus has been together for 5 years and we spent the first 3 years of the band with one member living overseas for work so we wrote the majority of our album over the internet sending files back and forth.

For people not knowing Sonic Circus (yet), how would you describe your music yourself?

Rock with a touch of progressive rock and a little dose of funk.

When someone doesn’t know Sonic Circus yet and you can choose one of your songs to present yourself, which song would that be?

I would choose Over The Line because it’s funky, it rocks, it’s got a huge chorus and you can dance or headbang to it!

What makes Sonic Circus unique?

We place a big emphasis on creating a mood for our songs, and we have no limits and no rules to our music. We could give you a funk or a metal song, depending on what we are feeling.

Any future plans you can already tell us something about?

Yes, we will have 4 new songs coming out later in 2021!

Any upcoming gigs for Sonic Circus? Maybe coming to The Netherlands?

We would LOVE to come to The Netherlands and play. Sadly due to COVID that won’t be happening for a while. One day, it’s a dream.

How do you think your life would be without music?

Extremely boring and my soul would suffer.

What advice would you give to young and starting bands?

Do what you want to do, don’t write to a formula, write what’s in your heart and your head. Ignore the knockers and keep moving forward. Never give up.

Thanks for your answers! Is there anything you want to say to DutchMetalManiac’s readers?

Thanks so much for the interview! We hope people out there like our music, it’s available on all streaming services and Bandcamp! We hope to see you soon and thank you for the support!

Cheers

Jimmy
