Review: Rise Of Avernus – Dramatis Personae

Australia’s Rise Of Avernus, consisting of Daniel Warrington, Mares Refalaeda, Ben van Vollenhoven and Andrew Craig, have just released their newest EP called Dramatis Personae. The style they play is orchestral progressive doom.

Dramatis Personae contains 5 tracks and has an total length of almost half an hour. Orchestral passages combined with heavy, loud metal music is what you going to hear, but it has also has its more slower, relaxing parts, that’s what gives the music its progressive feeling. Vocally, there are deep but clean male vocals, grunts and female vocals in it. The orchestral music gives Dramatis Personae an melodic touch over the very heavy, loud metal, which is both nice. Grutle Kjellson, the vocalist of Enslaved is also someone you can hear on Dramatis Personae, he will deliver guest vocals on Act Est Fabula. I think Rise Of Avernus is a band with a lot of potential and I hope to hear more music from this band in the future.

Want some very nice metal music? Go listen to Dramatis Personae by Rise Of Avernus!
