Interview: Kade Storm

Recently, DutchMetalManiac’s Tim van Velthuysen interviewed Kade Storm.

Hey, how are you?

Can’t complain, thanks. Hope all’s well with you.

Can you tell us something about the history of Kade Storm?

It’s not a very eventful history. I created this solo project around my own ideas, but was slow to properly shape and release anything. In fact, it’s only my recent LP, Ascension, that was released in April 2021, that I consider a proper effort that represents my vision and work.

For people not knowing Kade Storm (yet), how would you describe your music yourself?

It’s primarily black metal in terms of style, thematic and aesthetic, but with strong doom metal and death metal elements to the sound and execution. Basically, it’s atmospheric, dark and heavy music.

When someone doesn’t know Kade Storm yet and you can choose one of your songs to present yourself, which song would that be?

That’s a tough pick as I consider the entire Ascension album to be one cohesive concept. If I had to just pick a single track out of its three, it would be Wrath of The Fallen.

What makes Kade Storm unique?

I think that’s for those who listen to decide for themselves. I find it unique because it’s centred around my style and vision, which is about all I can really say.

Any future plans you can already tell us something about?

As of right now, the focus is to keep promoting the Ascension LP, while also its physical CD release via Narcoleptica Productions.

Any upcoming gigs for Kade Storm? Maybe coming to The Netherlands?

I haven’t considered live work with this project. That said, if I ever did, I’m always appreciative of all following and support from all over Europe and the world, and The Netherlands would always be a consideration.

How do you think your life would be without music?

That’s a very difficult notion to ponder. I really can’t imagine a reality without this sort of creative output.

What advice would you give to young and starting bands?

Always remain focused and avoid petty distractions, even if that means avoiding forming bands too eagerly.

Thanks for your answers! Is there anything you want to say to DutchMetalManiac’s readers?

Thanks much for the opportunity. If heavy and atmospheric music seems of interest, or something you seek out, give Ascension a listen. All the links have been provided.
